About the Position:
The Nurse Practitioner at Nightlight Pediatric Urgent Care performs both administrative and clinical duties as they provide coverage for one of Nightlight’s 8 Houston area clinics. A Nurse Practitioner obtains the relevant information from the patient and their caregivers and conducts physical exams on the patients. Due to the young age of our patients, you will need to be able to take into account their immature physiology when considering symptoms, making a diagnosis, prescribing medications, and performing care. You will need to be able to perform laceration repairs, incision and drainage of abscesses, application of splints, wart treatments, and partial excision of ingrown toenails. At times, you may also be asked to cath, draw blood, or use a bag mask valve to ventilate a patient as needed. You will also need to be able to formulate and communicate clear discharge and follow-up instructions to the caregivers of young patients. In between clinical duties, you will also be expected to perform administrative duties, such as: maintain and update patient records, handle and/or delegate patient correspondence regarding patient visits, medical advice, prescriptions, labs, and imaging studies. Because we are a pediatric urgent care, you will need to be used to a fast-paced clinical setting while maintaining the patience and compassion necessary to care for young patients and their caregivers during this stressful time.
